California Fish Grill in Brea

Place can use lessons on cleanliness. Help wiped out table and left it full of sticky smudges. Wondering the last time she washed out cloth. Performed with no pride. Mentioned at the front counter and was told someone would come right over... NOTHING! The lady that was wiping tables reflected zero enthusiasm. I hope behind the scenes, the food is not prepared with this attitude! Took the appetite right out of me.

Great fish grill spot

Very surprised was quite good.

The young lady that took my order wasn't very friendly but the food was pretty good.

Good food, good prices.

It literally took 20 minutes to get my food and the dining room was practically empty oppose to what you're generally used to at any other location. Veggies and rice are sitting out exposed and plated waiting on the fish. They offered a soup for the wait. My zucchini of course was cold they replaced it with another cold zucchini. My fish overcooked. My worse experience at a California fish grill yet. Brea u gotta do better💀. This name represents more and better than what i have here today. #disappointed 😕

Excellent seafood place. Casual dining. Good portions.

Very casual dining. I had the salmon and swai combo with cajun flavoring. They were so good! Flavored well. Fish cooked right. I even enjoyed my sides which were rice and grilled zucchini. Definitely a place i would frequent for fish Fridays.

Fast casual fish can actually be good. And reasonably priced. A glass of wine or a pint of Karl Strauss Red Trolley can complete things. My favorite is the Dynamite Shrimp Bowl. See the photo.

This is a great place to get fast, fresh food. All of the food has the taste and presentation of a high end restaurant with the pricing and feel of a casual restaurant. Would recommend for a date, but not if it's the only thing you're doing. Also there is no host, so you have to get a seat by your own intrepid was.

Very frustrated when your trying to call and place a phone order and then on hold forever and no one answers. Called 4 different time over a 22 minute period to try to place an order. Talked to the manager on duty, her excuse was they were very busy and the line was out the door so they weren’t taking phone orders. I told her that was not an excuse to keep customers hanging. Very disappointed

Consistently good food. They might have changed their kale slaw recipe. It tasted sweeter and better. Enjoyed their food

The California Fish Grill is my favorite fish restaurant I love their salmon and I also love their fried catfish today unfortunately I felt like salmon but they had sold out of it because they had sold so much of it during the day and I went in and the last half-hour they were open but I highly recommend you try the Atlantic salmon in the garlic butter sauce sometime it comes with rice or fries and grilled zucchini is the way to go you can also get beans or coleslaw although the grilled zucchini I think is better the thing I love is you can get a good fresh fish dinner and it's a good value a lot of fish restaurants are expensive but not California Fish Grill

Love their chimichurri sauce on grilled salmon.

Food varies so this review for 3 stars reflects the lower end of my orders. To address the areas for improvement I offer the following: 1) Staff, for the most part, is not very happy. 2) The final served tray is always missing something. Ask for butter at the order desk, gets placed on the order but is never placed on the tray until requested again. Last visit I had to ask for the beans to be placed on the tray. How difficult is it to see that the beans are missing from two plates? 3) Butter used to be self-help, but now have to ask for it. Water cups used to be self help, but now have to go to the counter to get a water cup.

Entrees are delicious, but sides like the beans and rice are particularly bland. That being said, the main food is good enough to keep me coming back. Grilled fish, of course, is great, battered fish tacos are great, and Cajun Shrimp tacos were pretty spicy if your sensitive, but really tasty.

The food is delicious and the prices are ok for a seafood place. The restaurant is clean and the service is fast. There fish tacos must try.

Great food and good portions. Reasonable prices for the quality of the food, which is great. I love the fish and chips here. Perfect for lunch. Also, they have a great selection of soft drinks.

I really use to like this place but last 2 times i was so disappointed. Both the time I ordered Coconut shrimp curry and first time the guy who prepared it was horrible because he put sooooo less curry that taste horrible. So again they have to prepare for me and that leaves me waiting for another 15 mins. The 2nd time they prepare horrible and i have asked white rice and they put brown rice and preparation was also not good, even after changed one.This was use to be my favorite place but not anymore now.

I get the cajun, grilled swai fish with fries and rice! Plenty of sauces, cilantro, they got a pitcher of Red Trolley beer! Great value for some beer drinkers in your party! Delicious!!

Very tasty food, ok prices

Unlike California Fish Grill, this store in Brea is in serious need of management...again. Last visit ended in a "last visit" and an email to corporate reporting lack of management integrity, with no response. We couldn't even get an order in this time.

The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that I ordered rare seared Ahi and it came medium. This is not the first time I get tired of sending it back. The corn and Brussel sprouts were to die for!

I really like the spicy shrimp bowl. My granddaughter loves the fish & chips. reasonably priced for sea food!

The food is great, 5 stars for the food. The customer service is terrible. Walked in to pick up my online order stood there and no one greeted me. Had to get the attention of the lady who I assume was the manager (she was dressed in a blue shirt) who was too busy chatting to see me standing at the counter. I can see my order sitting on the counter.I told her the last name on the order and she went to look it up but couldn't find it.I showed her the text telling me my order is ready and with an attitude she said we don't get those. Then she asked if it was for first & the last name I told her 5 times. Just the worst customer service.

#1 fish spot in town! Everything is always fresh and the flavors are amazing! I've never had a bad experience here!

The Hawaiian Swordfish with Garlic Butter Sauce is excellent nice and light added to that was Rice and Fried Zucchini. Light meal to start a good Mountain Bike ride.

3 stars was more about the facility and staff then the food. Fish grill food is consistent throughout there many locations. This night the restaurant wasn't clean, soda machine had no ice and the temperature was way to hot inside. The staff wasn't helpful or engaged to know that things were not running smoothly. This isn't the norm for Fish Grill so hopefully just an off night.

I ordered take out from California Fish Grill and the food was absolutely delicious. One order was the grilled salmon. One had Cajun seasoning and the other had garlic butter. The sides were the dynamite fries and white rice. The other order was the battered fish taco combo with extra pickled onions and no tomatoes. The sides were Brussels sprouts and rosemary zucchini. Truly every item was cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious. The only down side was I placed my order online to avoid having to go to the restaurant. The delivery fee would have added $14 to the order so I decided to place the order for pick up. When I arrived, there were designated parking spots for curbside pickup. I parked in the spot directly in front of the door. When I called I was told I had to come in and get my own order.

Wide selection of great tasting fish and a variety of sides. Chicken tacos and chicken salad available for someone with "drier" taste.

Good portions. Very tasty. Cajan style is my fav.

Absolutely delicious grilled seafood dishes

This was my first time visiting this establishment and I ordered the Cilantro Lime Salmon over white rice. It was very flavorful. I would order it again, but want to venture and try another dish on my next visit. The only thing I didn't understand is the tip option they give when you pay, since you pick up your own dish from the counter. Nice atmosphere.

Brea location used to be good about 2 years ago, but now there service is garbage and the food is hit or miss with MISS being most consistent. I tried being open minded and gave them another chance today and called in for a pick up order and they didn't even pick up the damn phone for almost 10 minutes so I just hung up and took my business elsewhere. I should have known better. O well I'll never go there again 👎👎👎

Have been to both locations near Placentia and they have never failed me. Great selection of fish from fried at grilled and everything in between. They also have about any other seafood choice you are looking for. This place has it all. It is a counter service restaurant but the seating area is always clean and nice.

Food was awesome. However scallops were kinda small. Overall, taste was good.

I truly love this place! Great selection, very reasonable prices and the food is amazing!
